If there ever was a time for the church to be living in what Hebrews 2:4 declares, it is now! “God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will.” In verses 2 & 3, Paul asks the question of “how can we escape.” This word escape in Greek is ekpheugó and it means a heavenly pulling away.
In these times we are living in, we need to have a pulling away or an escape from evil. Yet, Jesus did not tell us to try to hide away from the world but to be powerful and dynamic in the world and time we are living in.
Jesus’ very prayer in John 17 is for us to not be out of the world but to be powerful overcomers in the midst of the world. It is the will of God, according to Hebrews 2, that we overcome by signs, wonders, different miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost.
Some voices today are saying that it’s not always the will of God for us to receive signs, wonder, miracles, or even the gifts of the Holy Ghost. But God’s word declares that it is.
So, how do we walk in these blessings? The answer is very simple: Speak the uncompromised Word of God according to the Word of God and the confirmation of the Holy Spirit. It’s not our ability or our will that brings signs, wonders, miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost; it is that God will do it with the manifestation of them when we preach the “True Word of God.”
Remember what it says in the last verse of Mark, “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.” Signs follow the preaching of the true Word of the Lord.
Steven declares in Acts 2:22 that Jesus himself was a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst. And, in Romans 15:19 Paul declares, “in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit; so that from Jerusalem and round about as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. The test of the true word of God being ministered is that signs, wonders, miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost will be present.
